Yeah I'm going to hit the magic 40 mark in a few years so starting to pay attention... Thankfully my current role is on a path to transition slightly out of the technical front line but still concerning.
49 here, with some health issues. I may just stick with my current employer, come hell or high water, simply because I'm in, insurance is good, travel is now zero, and I now qualify for annual bonuses. Moving somewhere else would be a big roll of the dice for not much more potential gain. And, at 49, I don't want to risk it with a start-up that could go bust and then find myself waiting around for another gig as good as what I have now.
52 and a contractor, trying to get into a LT employment gig, but there is a large gap between what commercial pays and what gov contracting pays.
as long as you keep yourself up to date and viable in the market. companies are willing to hire, especially if you know Cisco ISE.
