Title: that moment when you take a practice exam and scores way past the passing score
Post by: ggnfs000 on April 27, 2017, 02:54:21 PM
used pearson for 100-105 and on second attempt, scores blew way past 800. I wish I was taking actual exam.

after finishing a book, further strategy is repeat exams and work on failed questions.
Schedule exam when I consistently passed 5 tests in a row.

Be careful with the practice exams. My son found they have a poor match to the actual test - check my study questions that I posted, and I'll get the others up today. They cover the study topics in greater detail, should be a better check for your knowledge.

the blueprint doesn't seem too vague, have you studied it, know it backwards and forwards. upside down?

If I asked you to "2.2 Interpret Ethernet frame format", would you be able to do that?

Links to all the questions I've posted. 8 pages of stuff, covers loads of things. Read wide and deep outside the OCG and you'll do very well. The OCG practice tests cover OCG material, but not everything on the test.

Have fun, please give me feedback on them.

thanks for your effort, that has always been a great concern. Mismatch between actual exam and practice. I am meaning same question on practice exam to appear on actual exam but in general same study topics.

are you done putting all you planned? Once I get very comfortable with OCG, I will go over this. I am expecting few weeks on OCG practice tests, since doing it besides my work.

That's the complete set for the 100-105. I should like to get cracking on the second half pretty soon. But it's pretty telling when I pull up a Cisco whitepaper and show it to my son who then states that he saw that on the test, but it wasn't in the OCG or the practice exams he was pulling 95% or better on.

I *hope* that this covers everything, and it might since I took the topics and just looked up all kinds of ways I could ask about them, whether or not the OCG had already covered them. Just be sure to supplement the OCG with online resources and one can do all right on the CCNA/CCENT exams.

Feel free to use the threads there to ask for more information about what I'm getting at in my questions. I'd recommend making your own set of threads to discuss answers for the questions, as those can turn into additional resources for test takers.

SofaKing did some excellent stuff with his CCNP SWITCH topics, which was born out of his drive to cover the gaps between the OCG and the test. The more we all chip in, the better the chances of other people that want to self-study for their certs.

It's an entry-level exam, but it is serious business. If there are questions I asked that you feel didn't go far enough, feel free to suggest additional questions to the ones I've posted. We'd like for our study recommendations to be as complete as possible.
