Title: 5G health risks bandwagon
Post by: Dieselboy on March 18, 2019, 12:13:41 AM
Seems that everyone is talking about how bad 5G is for us humans. So much so that they are confusing 5Ghz wifi with 5th generation mobiles.

I've yet to see any study suggesting increased health risks with 5g compared to 4g / 3g / 2g / 1g. Even my mum is adding me to facebook groups that are trying to ban 5g worldwide https://www.facebook.com/groups/103607877050676/

Anyone have any idea why theres such an uproar?

Well, you got me to do some reading...

... and if it's dangerous, then anyone that's been around a WiFi AP has been exposed to the 5G monster for some time. That being said, if you're not bothered by WAPs at work, or in hotels, or in your home, then you're likely not to be bothered by 5G.

Should you strap an AP to your head and not worry? No. Should you go hug a radio tower for an hour a day, every day? No. But for normal use, I don't really see a cause for worry.

That being said, I read one article that touted 5G as making possible even more IoT stuff and drones and what-not. In my mind, that's where the real increased risk is going to come from.

I'm still a member of that fb group. Someone last night ranted that 5th Gen mobile is being deployed without any testing or approvals. Now in UK you can't sell a radio product without it being approved for example. It's probably similar in USA.

So I reach out to the department of health uk and asked for related info. I seriously doubt these 5G companies have been able to do the following without approval from DoH:
- purchase 5G transmission equipment for use in UK
- sell the same in the uk
- establish 5G cells
- give them free-reign on installation (in terms of installation guidelines such as distance between cell towers, distances between cell towers and people, transmit powers, frequency bands)

Yeah, it's fine. There's a lot of anti-authority stuff out there that rejects good science out of thinking that if a scientist is an authority in his field, he must be part of the cover-up...

Yep - basically if you know and understand then you're a part of the conspiracy

I reached out to Public Health UK. They explained that the mobile operators are going to regulate themselves with regards to the safety aspects of 5G. Self-regulation sounds like a great idea! I just think of the 2008 GFC and how well that turned out for everyone.

On this facebook group specifically, I did speak with the woman that runs the group. She enjoys going to events and handing out flyers about how 5G is going to cause everyone to die and it's an experiment on humanity. She explained to me that with 5G, "thermal" is a problem. Meaning that it's going to heat up water molecules like a microwave.
I did explain that, a microwave is only capable of heating up water because of the high power output, close proximity, focusing and standing wave / in-phase amplification. But she went silent.

I just remembered that WiMAX uses high frequencies.. I checked it up, 2GHz to 66GHz. I've been using that in London since around 2008. I emailed her back to explain all of the adverse health affects should be well known for over 10 years of usage so far

I feel a facebook ban coming on.

"heating water molecules like a microwave"? Forget 5G. Microwave ovens that actually heat water use a frequency of 2,450Mhz. Hmmm, does that number look familiar? Yep, 2.4Ghz wifi. She shouldn't be worried about 5G she should be worried about all the wifi access points in her house, work, school, starbucks, etc. etc. Those access points are typically mounted on the ceiling pointed down right at her head.
