Title: Cisco UCS C220 M5 - drive tray part no. ?
Post by: Dieselboy on September 26, 2019, 09:19:14 PM
Does anyone have access to a SATA drive tray for the C220 M5 and can you confirm the part number for the drive tray is 800-35052-01 ?

800-35052-01 DOES NOT FIT Cisco UCS c220 M5
- the tray is slightly too wide
- the latch mechanism is not in the right place to secure the tray.

I've been unable to locate M5 trays / caddies online to purchase. I do not have any official M5 HDD to remove the HDD and locate the part no. from the tray. If anyone sees this and doesnt mind sharing the info - I'd be most grateful :)

Sounds like you need a power sander, a popsicle stick, and some crazy glue to solve this problem. :smug:

You are not looking for the blanking panel right? I looked in the ordering guide for the c220 m5, and in the ordering tool on Cisco, and I can't quote just a drive tray(at least I can't find it), and it does not list sub components for a drive.

Sorry,

Could you 3D print it?

I'm using non-cisco equipment ;) I have all blanking panels at the moment. I'd like to install a couple of SATA SSDs (Samsung server type PM863a if I remember).

I emailed a seller on ebay that are selling the part number I mentioned. I explained to them the situation and they asked me if I could send them an M5 tray so they can create a 3D print. So I think it may be possible, but I'm in the situation where I don't have any tray for the M5 and if I did, then I'd just google the part number that is printed inside the tray and find them somewhere in the world online :)

The seller from China whom I contacted is now making these and they let me know. Although in my opinion the price is too high at the moment. Usually these are $10-$20 AUD. But I guess they want to recoup their man-hours effort before they lower the costs. Plus, there is no competition at the moment. I am using iSCSI boot from local SAN at the moment, which gives me SSD performance so it's no bother to me.
