Title: Arthur C. Clarke predicting the future, back in 1974
Post by: Dieselboy on April 08, 2021, 10:19:58 PM
This is a video clip of Arthur C. Clarke from 1974 talking about computers and what life could be like in 2001. He predicts people will have computers at home and can work from home almost anywhere in the world.

Of course, have to read the comments. There are a few good ones:

Quote"One day a computer will fall onto someone's nose because they're watching this interview at half past three in the morning."

and:

QuoteHe will have access to quantities of pornography so abundant, that keywords unimaginable to you or I shall have to be invented just to categorize it."

This guy also helped to develop the idea of the communications satellite. Quite the boffin, our Arthur C.!

I find it interesting how he says the console will connect a user to the computer. In 2001, we'd all be like "Looks like he's still thinking mainframes, he completely missed the PC revolution!" But in 2021, we're now all like "Whoooaaaa, he predicted cloud computing!"
