what are the cons and pros of doing it...this came in a subject we are studying this semester called internet and intranet...
i have asked this question because i learnt that isp could buy ip addresses directly from APNIC or from NIRs. what's the basic difference between buying from these two?

this is our syllabus if anyone is interested what's it all about.

Hi Blue,
are we talking IPv4 or IPv6. APNIC is Asia Pacific area, and since there are no IPv4 adresses to be assigned, I am guessing IPv6
NIR is the National Internet Registry. NIRs operate primarily in the Asia Pacific region, under the authority of APNIC, the regional Internet registry for that region.
so I think it really depends on your allocation size request.
a request to APNIC, if it is not large enough the request would need to go thorough NIR
a request to NIR, if too big would need to go through APNIC
oh i see thanks for the kind information. i had no idea APNIC didn't support IPV4..
