Title: Router-wireless to wireless ?
Post by: james_bossi on February 07, 2024, 07:53:49 PM
Hi Everyone, I'm new here and would like to ask you something, please.

I have an old router-wireless modem and I would like to have a new wireless router, how can I do it, how can I stop the old router-wireless modem to stop broadcasting and let the new one do it ?

Simplest method is to turn off the old one and then plug in the new one. There will be some configuration on the new one to have it work with the upstream network devices, but if it is assigning addresses with DHCP, then all the connected devices will get a new address and work as before. If the wireless SSID changes with the new one, then devices connecting to the wireless will need new settings to connect.

If this is a home network with standard setups, the above should be enough. If you have some complications, then we'll keep talking in this thread! :D
