On the hardware side look at Raspberry Pi and if you want to look deeper than that look around for embedded systems.  Also it would help tons if you are already an expert at programming; otherwise it will be a challenging project. :)
Banana PI has a router board. RPI shares the Ethernet connection with the USB hub. Banana PI is using an A20 AW arm chip with dedicated connection, plus on-board lan (think it was realtek)

BTW, just updated my network to a dedicated security appliance using pfsense. So much better than using it in a VM. [emoji1]

Ugh small business. I get upset every time I scan for WiFi and I find WPS or WEP. Didn't the credit card industry ban those if you want to run cards? If it wasn't illegal, I'd blackmail everyone of those business by hacking their network, sniffing some of the traffic, and show them... Then charge them a reasonable fee to fix it. Only if....

Then again homeowners aren't in the clear. My gf let Time Warner set up her router and do security on it. They left the WPS on it... I figured it was a netgear so it would have the brute force fix on it... Nope... 30 mins later... I was in. Oh and the passphrase was her phone number. :developers:

the most I could get was an additional 7% of current pay rate..... >:(

That is what I am running into now. Hiring manager agrees with what I've requested is fair... Its a matter of getting HR to approve a large base jump since I'm loosing a large bonus.

Oh for hell's sake...

While this is a directed, instead of general, attack, it's still something that has to be considered, especially if you've been selected as a random target of a vehicle theft. Keep your valuables with you... or always examine the undercarriage of your car before entering.
Or you do as I do... Use the effing key. You know that 2,000 year old technology?

Well with dump #2, at least the CEO has to acknowledge the authenticity of the hack.

Was it fire resistant cardboard? Maybe they used it to keep the EMI crosstalk down by properly spacing their non-spec from China patch cables.

Before? Put it on mute and keep listening dude! Or at least use a 1 ear bud approach. On a side note, I was in a meeting not long ago that someone did that.

I have decided that it is best to just leave it be at this point. I know she is getting screwed but the way I see it is that it isn't any of my business and by saying something I could make things worse for both her and myself.
You did the right thing. This is why discussing pay to peers in many companies is a conflict of interest and can be a fireable offense. Each of us negotiates our own self worth through compensation. If someone is willing to accept a lowball offer and is OK with it... Well at least they can say they are keeping american jobs from going to the other side of the pond. :)

TIL that it is unheard of to reject a salary offer and try to negotiate on an internal position. Lol
