I've been watching it. It reminds me of Fight Club, vaguely.

TIL how to configure CIMC on a Cisco C220 series server
(note to future self, do not use the same IP for the server and for the CIMC configuration)

CIMC has saved my bacon more than once.

Do you guys know if you can setup the CIMC on a Cisco C240 M3 if it has never been setup without taking down the server?

You will need to reboot the server and enter the CIMC configuration utility to setup CIMC.

It would be really handy if CIMC would pick up a DHCP address so you could set i up later, in case you forgot. I know I have missed it once or twice, and sometimes taking the server down isn't an option during the day.

Configured 7 MGCP Voice gateways and 8 3560s that will be used at a customer's remote sites. Forgot to add DHCP Pools for the phones to the first two routers. They are on the bottom of the stack. Easy to fix but I've annoyed myself.

Customer with a dead phone ruined my day.

I actually started on the stack of gear, but the dead phone threw my groove. Now I'm waiting for a response from the POC to see if they keep any spare 7911s.

I have a big stack of gear to configure for a customer and absolutely zero desire to get started. Ah, the Friday of a long weekend. I am already checked out.  :woohoo:

Don't get me started with meetings (too late). I work 10 hour days, and looking at my schedule for the other day I spent 6 hours in scheduled meetings. Then add in the hallway meetings between meetings I probably spent 8 hours in meetings in one day. Which sounds like I got two hours to do work, but those two hours were broken up in 30 minute windows between meetings. So by the time I get back to my desk, login, and remember what I was doing it is time to go to the next meeting. I am not the only engineer here with this problem, and we actually (no joke) have a meeting next week to find a solution to having too many meetings.

To keep on topic.

Small Company - If they decide to spend money you being the only IT guy pretty much get whatever you want within budget. You don't have to do months of analysis on what product is better.
Medium Company - Typically larger budget so you get bigger toys, but you have to share that budget with other groups in IT so you have to better justify why you need the toys.
Large Company - Of course a larger budget so even bigger toys, however, after doing six months of analysis on which option is best, and meeting after meeting with vendors, and management by the time the gear shows up you are so sick of the project you don't actually want to deploy the gear.

I work in a small/medium company. One thing we kicked around to keep us out of meetings was for our department to bill the department that wanted all of our time (sales). Food for thought.

Well, I'm a former medical professional and can confirm that drinking alcohol long term weakens the immune system.

I'm pretty sure this is because the alcohol takes over fighting the sickness and the immune system gets lazy.

Alcohol kills germs, right?   like when yer sick,  drink alcohol to kill the germs.

Sounds legit.

DISCLAIMER: We're not doctors, and we don't even play them on teevee.

I usually get all of my medical advice from networking forums. Guess I'll have to rethink this.

Ummmm....I just finished explaining how Ethernet works to a coworker that is a "senior" tech with supposedly 20+ years experience.  :wall:

We have a few of those guys here.
