A901-6CZ-F-A licensing for SFP

Good afternoon, everyone. I am looking for a little help and clarification. I have an ASR-A901-6CZ-F-A with GLC-LH-SM SFP for my WAN port. The LEC has handed off my circuit with a Singlemode 1310nm ER/LR - 20km/LC(10GIG) SFP. My question is, if I swap out my SFP with a SFP+ module to match the LEC, and put the SFP in the 10GIG interface on the ASR, can I bring up the port without purchasing the 10G license? Or will my WAN port stay down until I upload a 10G license? This is only a 30M circuit so I would hate to pay for a license to accommodate a 10G hand-off. Thanks for any assistance you can provide.

If sufficient 10G licenses are not available or not activated for a port and an SFP+ is inserted, the 10G
mode is not enabled. The interface will be in 'link down state' and the following system warning message
will be generated. Warning: SFP+ inserted at port X tengig license not in
use

If an activated 10G license is uninstalled or deactivated for a particular port with SFP+, the interface is
initialized to 1G mode and 10G interfaces will be in administratively down state.

Looks like you must have a license for the SFP+ to work. A normal SFP should be fine in that interface without a new license.

Thank you, Dean! But, a regular SFP would not work with the 10G LEC hand-off, correct? Or am I mistaken?

They are giving you a 10G hand off for a 30M circuit? That sounds weird. Do you know the exact optic they are putting in on their side? I know our colo will not give out a 10G hand off for less than a 1G unless you ask specifically for it.

Sorry about the delayed response. Yes, the LEC is handing off a 10G hand-off for a 30M circuit. It doesn't make much sense for me either and it makes more sense to have them come back out and change the hand-off. However, if they cannot, I am wondering what is compatible and if I would need a license to just simply bring the port up and pass traffic with a 10G SFP.
