So I've been studying for this since about 2010. They released the new exams late last year. I have 3 CCNP level certs left to do since I done a couple CCNP voice certs and one of those can be used towards the CCNP UC. However I must do one CCNA UC cert to qualify.

Looking around the web and CBT Nuggets https://www.cbtnuggets.com/it-training/cisco-ccna-collaboration-210-060-cicd
it looks as though it is very similar to the other CCNA Voice certs I've already done.

So this will be the third time studying for CCNA voice. :/ I'm going to watch the CBT nuggets videos and see how I feel about taking the exam. The first time I did this, I waited a year for their Cisco Press book to come out only to find it was 90% the same as the previous book  :))

I have a goal to complete the CCNP UC cert by end of 2016. I'm writing it here so I can't slack off :)

Sounds like a plan. When do you want us to bug you about working on this again?

I wouldn't waste my time with the current Cisco security syllabus as it stands. The main product you study in the current syllabus - the ASA - is on the way out. You don't touch ANY firepower/sourcefire in even the updated syllabus. No Ironport/WSA either. ISE is a moving target. No threatgrid/lancope/cloud security stuff etc. at all.
Unless you work for the vendor, people don't seem too fussed about it anyway.

I'm only taking the VPN test to renew my CCNP-Security. It's a warmed-over version of the same test from 2013.

Are you guys sure? The CCNA Security which is out on cbt nuggets goes over firepower. That's the reason I was looking forward to it. I'm just waiting for my firepower licenses to arrive so I can start deploying it.

Looks like the old pre-firepower CX stuff to me, but I could be wrong.

the terminology lines  up with this old datasheet

http://www.cisco.com/c/en/us/products/collateral/security/asa-5500-series-next-generation-firewalls/data_sheet_c78-701659.html

Which is pre-firepower and even at the start they basically say 'hey don't look at this stuff, here's a link for FIREPOWER (tm)'.

Wintermute is right. The new CCNP Security is not new enough for the techs that Cisco bought, but still new enough to not have all the official cert guides released yet.

My guess is in a year or so, Cisco comes up with tests that include not only ISE, but FirePower, Lancope, and OpenDNS.

Maybe not, though.
