Essentially you need 80 hours (minimum) of technical seminars to re certify? I like this, and it allow diversification.

I think this is the way other vendors currently handle the re-cert of their certifications.  I believe for a CISSP / CISA / CEH to re-cert they only need to complete a certain amount of learning credits in a certain time period.  I think this is a good move for Cisco to be making as far as their certifications go.

I am all for this!

This allows more flexibility in how we spend our time and energy on recerts. I have never liked the idea of circling back on a test to recert. Its like covering old ground and review. I have stuff Im working on now, Im past that, is my mentality!

For me Im mostly pissed that I will miss CLUS this year and I only have 88 days to recert or my CCIE goes suspended. Not that big a deal as Ill have a year to get it back to active. But all of my CCNPs and CCNAs will expire at that same time. :|

humm seems to read like people with multiple CCIE's might be out of luck.

and they did not clarify, whether the CCIE renewal also renews any professional level or associate level certifications.
i.e. if you have a CCNP R&S and a CCIE R&S, after the education program, does one only have the CCIE, and the CCNP is expired?

Renewal of a single CCIE will renew all CCIEs and lower level certs. That part is not changing.
