Don't think I am going to anything this year :-(

Is it because you're new at your job, or because that's not how they roll?
Take a baseball bat and trash all the routers, shout out "IT'S A NETWORK PROBLEM NOW, SUCKERS!" and then peel out of the parking lot in your Ferrari.

With my new gig doing mainly open source I am pretty sure I won't be going to anything (closest would be Red Hat Summit but not gonna happen).

Ah new job didn't happen :-(
My head-hunter put me in at ~$20K less than I told them I wanted.

Yeah, I wasn't to pleased when I found that out. Especially after I took a vacation day and a 6 hour trip to interview with them.

My head-hunter asked me if I would come down in price cause she didn't want to tell them I wanted that much more than they had asked for.

That sucks man. I had that done to me once a few years ago as well. Needless to say I didn't take that guys calls after that.

Wow... that's some straight-up bull-ish

I'd definitely mention that on Glassdoor or where ever else you can make comments about the company in a public forum.

Up to you, but I'd tell that person I'll never work with them again (request someone else from the same company if you like), and I'd explain exactly why so hopefully they learn their lesson.... they should have been upfront about that from the start.
