We had new A/C installed in the server room today, cacti shows it's good:

I tried to find my old post about comms room AC but couldn't locate it.

Complete power off today to install the A/C. In fact, the monitoring would have been triggering alerts soon I expect if I had not gone in there. I had the previous unit on 21c. I know it's not exact but I have got the room to 21c before just by powering it off and on, but then the room just gradually warms up over time.
The new unit is also on 21c and the fans are on auto but the temperature is on cool. Cacti shows that the temp is much more stable. It's a ceiling cassette (the square ceiling thing) and I had them blank off the rear side blower so that it does not blow against the rear of the rack.

I'm also going to get a quote for an IP card for it so if anything does happen whilst I'm away, I have some level of management over the environment.

Going to keep monitoring and see if the temp. is okay where it is, but I think I could turn it up a degree. Although it's the weekend so the servers are a little less used, it already feels though there doesn't seem to be a hot spot at the rear of the rack.
The old unit was left in place as it's not really broken per se. It just didn't work properly sometimes. :)

This has been the cause of sleepness nights on occasion, so I'm over the moon at the moment.

Crank it down to 5, see what happens! Maybe you get some superconductors at that temperature!

:problem?:

Seriously, though, that's a huge difference in temperature and stability.

If I crank it down to 5 wouldn't I get the rack and server chassis floating in the room?   :problem?:

I'm over the moon with the difference. The new unit is actually 6kw (old one is 7kw). We're using about 16A @230v which is a little under 4kw. The ceiling cassette is not much bigger than a big laptop. I'll get some photos next week  :)

I just need to finish up the scripts and things so that if the power goes, everything turns itself off if it starts to get warm, because the A/C is mains powered.
