I've been there three times, agree on the hill situation.

It's also very expensive with lots of expenses, which is why I don't live there...
Take a baseball bat and trash all the routers, shout out "IT'S A NETWORK PROBLEM NOW, SUCKERS!" and then peel out of the parking lot in your Ferrari.

Yeah looking in detail at the costs almost floored me. I knew it was expensive but even compared to Australian real estate it's insane. Add California state tax...

I was in LA in 2012, with a rented Mustang and the Mrs and I discussed driving up to San Fran but we went to Vegas instead, which was a shame;

This is why I didn't take any job offers in LA/SFO areas. Even with 50% more pay than in DFW, I'd be losing money on the deal after taking expenses into account. I may boil in the summers here, but it's worth it all to have cheap autumns, winters, and springs.
