Hi,

Are you familiar with the possibility to enable a combination of:  path protection + link/node protection on ingress PE routers?
I want to be able to handle remote failures with path protection, as well as react fast (sub 50msec) for local failures.

Which IOS supports this?

+ would be glad for some configuration guidelines ( How should the backup tunnel be configured, should I take into account a backup tunnel only for path protection? )

Thanks !!

I'm no expert on this but most of my reading has indicated that the computation problem becomes too massive when you try to do more than a handful of paths manually.
I assume you don't have a PCE or a commercial MPLS-TE engine to program your paths, so check the book Definite MPLS Designs - awesome read

page 167 in particular seems to be your cup of tea:

"USCom elected to pursue the following MPLS Traffic Engineering Fast Reroute design for each
light path that is to be protected:
• Configuration of a one-hop unconstrained primary TE Label-Switched Path (LSP)
• Dynamic configuration of an SRLG diverse next-hop (NHOP) backup tunnel"

And then basically they do autotunnels :)

As an aside, you'll likely have to shell out hard earned cisco press bucks or go to safari, its not a common book

The best technical in-depth resource for this topic thou is MPLS in the SDN era which is amazeballs but it has little 'practical' i.e. 'IRL people do it like X' tips which Definitive MPLS designs is chock full  of - unfortunately it is 2006 :(
