Riverbed support for 2 devices coming in at almost $10k. Big boss fell over and has put his foot down now  :twitch: Doesn't see that they are a critical business need.

With Cisco gear you can get them covered by a reseller - does anything like that exist for Riverbed hardware? I don't mind going through a 3rd party for that.

I checked Curvature, but they do not list Riverbed hardware.  There must be somebody trying to make a buck on it though...

Thanks for checking. I think I'm over a barrel. I can only get approval to cover one (out of two) appliance  :twitch:

Coverage for only one? Then make it the HA secondary. That way, if the primary fails, you just buy a new one. If the secondary fails, you get that fixed so you know you have a backup for the primary.

That made so much sense to me, I should be a manager... someone shoot me now...

I found a third party support vendor for Riverbed:

I'm not seeing any others, so I'm guessing Riverbed's lawyers stay pretty busy...

Spot on! I have been managing my smartnets similar this year. With the smart nets, primary unit has 24x7x4 and the backup unit is covered under 8x5NBD or not at all.

mlan thanks so much mate! I will give them a call.

In any case I think I should start looking at buying support again at around year 3 of ownership  :XD:
