Well, there are new thingies, so we needed a new thread. BRB, gotta do my spinning...

I just bought a fidget cube for $5 at a place around us called Five Below.  It is a pretty cool little toy for about 5 minutes.  It would be way to distracting to use in a classroom or office setting.  It looks exactly like the one in the middle of your video deanwebb.  I was really disappointed that all of the five rubber buttons do not click, only 3 out of the 5.

Funny video Dean!

I've had desk toys pretty much my whole career. They are a must at any desk. Watching videos or reading are the absolute worst for me as my hands aren't busy typing or using the mouse. This is where desk toys help.

My collection:
Rubik's Cube
poker chips
mini skateboard
velcro straps
fidget spinner

I think out of everything the velcro straps get used the most.

That's the original design, so that two of the pips could be worked on silent mode, if needed. There is a big difference between the knockoffs and the Antsy Lab cubes.

You know, I forgot about my BNC connector fidget toy I made when we got rid of token-ring back in 1998. I need to make a follow-up video for legacy fidget toys. :D

I remember, and when the Fidget Spinner craze started in Europe the first thing I thought was that I should invested in it when that thread came up

Personally, I've been buying a lot of Hanayama metal-cast, mechanical puzzles lately. Some of them are really incredible!

I tried to find the old thread but I didn't have much luck.

When I was a kid, I liked magnets and those half circle shaped things that pop off after a short while. What are they called? You turn them inside out, place them somewhere and walk away. Then after a few seconds it tries to fold itself back the normal way and the energy release (as well as the thing changing shape and the top of it hitting down onto the table) flings it upwards.

Oh and bouncy balls.

That old thread wasn't that old... January of this year...

And those Hanayama puzzles would drive me up the wall. I'm the guy that kept the Rubik's cube either solved or in a nice, regular pattern and then tossed it around or moved a slice around and around. If it got too messed up, I just popped a corner and took it apart and put it back together.

I used to be able to solve a rubik's cube in 5 min or less. Not the speed method everyone uses now but the traditional way just really fast. I went about 10 years without touching one and lost it. Now Im lucky if I get it solved without having to look it up. I can usually get the top two levels and the third sometimes.

Back when I was quick I worked in a call center and that was one of the things I would do while talking to customers was mix up a cube and solve it before ending the call. Fun times call centers suck!

May be I am mistaken but I believe there was a mention of this or something similar on the OLD forum that was run by Steve. Probably talking 7 or 8 years ago.

I've never been able to do them :)

Whats wrong with the humble pen as a fidget device? click-click, clickety-click  ;D

Though I do have a couple of power balls, but they take a bit of effort to get started.
And if you have to put it down rapidly for some reason it's likely to run of, they have quite some force in them at speed.
So not sure if they are fidget devices as such.
