Cisco: *almost doubles the price of the tests over a few years, gets non-English speakers to write the exams, and makes the questions overly picky*

This is more than a week of pay for an entry level IT guy.

Wow, that is bad. As dlots points out, when you look at the risk involved in the venture, you can see why people would make a choice to dirty their hands. CCNA is pretty much a requirement on a CV/resume to get past HR for an entry-level job, and the pay increase relative to other entry-level work is huge.

Huge risk, huge reward, so no wonder some people see dumpsites as insurance...

when I did that exam years ago it was a candidate for the worst cisco exam ever. Absolutely terrible content. You could walk out with no clue what to do in front of the CUCM UI and pass legitimately

Thanks not confident at all. Going to buy the amazon kindle book to refresh. Been on and off studying this one for a while and things keep coming up getting me off track. The idea with booking the exam is that I have less choice to go off track and more incentive to stay on it.

Here's the thing... you've got the OCG, but the test will also go deeper into the specifics of the protocol than the OCG will. Hit wiki articles and RFCs for the protocols, read them inside and out. I'm going to sleep now, but remind me later to look stuff up, I'll try and make some study questions for you based on what I can find about the protocols and how the work, not necessarily what's in an OCG.
