I've been looking for open source WAN optimisation, like a open source "Riverbed" or Silver Peak appliance (preferably software defined that will run on kvm  such as openstack). I have found a couple of them that I may try out soon but I've yet to find anything like the Riverbed Steelhead Mobile which is a piece of software that installs on either a Windows or Mac and creates a mini Riverbed appliance on the laptop and will cache and optimise traffic between the laptop and the server-side steelhead. It is really helpful for those that work from home or travel a ton. The optimisation is really noticed for example when loading web apps at the main office from a hotel while on business travel.

Wondered if anyone was aware of any software clients for wan optimisation?

Riverbed have this market sewn up. They can even dynamically spin up to o365.

Thats why their annual fees are in the $$$$$'s then

Going to try and look at TOFFEE and thinking of using Azure for mobile users with a VPN to a local Azure access point.

Or go thin client style Citrix/horizon?
