Behold, the best supercar ever created; the replacement for the McLaren F1 supercar:

That tiny footprint hybrid V12 gets me excited. No belts, no alternator. There's a toyota hybrid like 48V motor/generator power system bolted onto the crankshaft. It costs 30hp to run and provide power to the a/c etc. However the plus side is that if you press the boost button then the motor runs in reverse and provides +30hp back to the crank. This means a 60hp boost for a few minutes.

The car also uses ground effect through the big fan at the back of the car. I've been trying to guess the top speed of this car. The designer didnt design to beat numbers he said; same with the mclaren f1. And the F1 turned out to do 240mph top speed. Now this new car can play with the air and make it so that there is a lot less drag and more power to the engine. The car weighs less than 1000kg. So I think it would have to at least beat the F1 as it's a better car than the F1 in a lot of ways. So 240mph starting point. I thought 260mph but then I found out about the electric boost and the fan. But each mph at that speed takes exponentially more power due to the wind, so I really don't know.  The Bugatti Chiron does 305mph and has a beast of a turbo-engine. So if this new car is going to be again the fastest car in the world for the next 10-15 years then it needs to smash the 305mph record. Insane.

BTW, my home county in England is Surrey. Home of Goodwood and a few F1 teams. Damon Hill owns a supercar rental company also in Surrey (P1 International). Surrey is a lovely place, google image search it :)

Very nice looking car. I didn't watch the entire video, but I skimmed it, and didn't see it taken out for a spin. Wanted to see it moving. I did a test drive of a Model X with ludicrous the other week. That was a little scary. 5,000 lbs shouldn't move that fast. It was fun once I knew what to expect. However, that option is pretty expensive. I can't justify 20K because it is fun.

The really cool stuff will be in 10-15 years when this tech filters into mid- and low-range vehicles.
Take a baseball bat and trash all the routers, shout out "IT'S A NETWORK PROBLEM NOW, SUCKERS!" and then peel out of the parking lot in your Ferrari.

No "Vegas" budget then?  :XD:

At the time of shooting the video I Think they had not yet completed a running and driving car. There was a mention of getting one together for testing at the beginning of August. I'm keen to see it driving, too. I think it will sound like a high-performance motorbike. They mentioned on the video that they wanted it to rev free and fast. The engine's redline is at just over 12,000rpm however the rpm per second climb is 25,000rpm/s. It means that in 1 second they can go from 1000rpm to 25,000rpm. But the engine only goes to 12000. So in about 0.5 seconds (or less because starting at 1000rpm idle) the engine can bounce off the limiter from idle. I can't really envision it, maybe it will be like the older F1 v10. The problem is because it's so free, when putting in the clutch to change gear the engine will be back at idle RPM before you've shifted :)
