Had one last night. I was at work and had to listen to a Cisco BU team drone on about some tech of theirs. I was only half paying attention as I was looking at my actual day job stuff as I grunted along with the presentation. When there was dead air, I just asked if they could repeat the question, and then responded. Long story short, in my job in my dream (not my dream job, two different things), we'll be doing an evaluation of Cisco something or other that plugs into Lancope and Orion for automated something about network information flows. I dunno. I'll evaluate it when it gets racked in my dream test lab.

After that, I saw a group of young people trot in, and recognized several of them as former students. Apparently, it was an IT internship thingy and they were going to be on site with me, getting their IT skillz and stuff like that. We all had a nice happy meeting and then, like all IT people do at 10 AM, got down to asking about where we were going to go for lunch. They were young and most likely poor, so I mentioned the Chik-fil-a up the road and they all seemed to like that. We'll meet by the elevator at 11.

I woke up and was amazed at how much like my actual job that was, especially the doing work while giving partial attention to sales guys thing.

Last night's dream... I was dealing with an advanced persistent threat (APT) and was having to tell people over and over that we don't just pull the Internet tap and reset passwords. We have to do forensics so that we know who's involved and what was being hit. I was explaining that over and over to managers and directors and project managers and all kinds of people that want things done now, rather than done safely.

If I get paid for all that, it was a good dream. If not, I had a nightmare.
