What Happened?
The Robinhood financial service company has confirmed a data security incident that has exposed either full names or email addresses for approximately 7 million customers, with a smaller subset having additional personal information revealed. These customers could be targeted with spam, phishing attempts, identity theft and more.

What should I do about it?
Robinhood users are urged to change their passwords as a preventative measure. This information, if exposed, could lead to other vulnerabilities putting personal information at risk.

It's worse than that, the Robin hood users are now vulnerable to identity theft.

If I had ever signed up to Robin hood I would now be looking to buy identity theft insurance cover.

People that use Robin hood are not millionaires, probably a lot of the opposite, people trying to get ahead.

Which is why they get hacked. Loads of people tossing money about on a new app that probably hasn't been properly patched after a round of pen-testing. What could possibly go wrong?

This is why I don't jump on the latest platforms. Well, in addition to being an old fart... but if big players like FB can have security issues, the new players trying to build out platforms are road apples, just waiting for the attackers to drive over them.

Remember that one adultery site that had all it's user info stolen and dumped? Yeah, road apples...
