Changing the default IPv4 address?

My new routers ip address range is outside the ip address of a gadget in my home network which I need to use. when I ping the IP address it times out while others respond fine.

My routers default address is IPv4 192.168.178.1 and the DHCP server assigns IPv4 addresses between 192.168.178.20 - 192.168.178.200. 

The IP address I need to reach is 192.168.1.101.

whats the best way to tackle this problem?

Change the IP address of the gadget, if you have a laptop or spare computer, create small network between the two
spare PC - gadget.  (may need a crossover cable)  set the spare pc to an IP in the same network like 192.168.1.100, /24 mask and default gateway of the gadget IP 192.168.1.101. Then open a web browser and open http://192.168.1.101  use gadget credential to login. Change the IP, netmask, default gateway to the correct information, save the config. move it back to the regular network and you should be able to then connect to it on the new IP address to configure.
