Hi,

Can anyone explain the added value of using PW label blocks in VPLS?
What is the added value of this ? why not to send one specific label ?

THanks,

Reggle

Let's see... You have the basic MPLS forwarding label, next the label to identify which pseudowire, and then the pseudowire header. Not sure about that one, wasn't it the type of traffic? After all it can carry any protocol.

In Juniper's implementation (not sure how others do it)
In order to allocate the PW label the PEs exchange auto-discovery messages with label block ranges.. instead of just allocating a label (like in L3vpn)
I've read that it save some control plane processing, not sure how.
