I'm now on CUCM 11. Opus codec is supported. A use case for me is Cisco Jabber from laptops, iphones and Android phones while away from the office. Either using 4G or flaky wifi via public hotspots, airports and cafes. A lot of our users work away from the office.
Opus codec supports packet loss and is supposed to be good with loss concealment. Bit rate can be from 6kbps to 510kbps. https://www.opus-codec.org/

In the previous CUCM version, I set a codec preference for those working away from the office to use iLBC (only able to use this on the remote VPN desk phones, since iLBC support in Jabber was dropped ages ago). Basically, in the regions in CUCM you say "use this max bandwidth for audio" and then CUCM picks the codec.

My query is, since Opus can go up to 510k, but be as low as 6k, I'm not sure exactly how to set things up to use Opus as a 1st priority. Has anyone played around with this yet?

I'll spend some time on it this week and make some test calls.
