Just finished reading these and this looks very interesting.

Same thing with any centrally controlled protocol I would be curious about the various failure scenarios and their impact. I can see when the PCE shits the bed things go south pretty quick!

I need to make a point to get this fired up in the lab and play around with it. But I also need to get a better handle on TE in general as its a topic I do not have much exposure to.

After I finish climbing this mountain my next project is going to be getting dirty with exabgp, you could build a pretty nasty bare-bones PCE with a bunch of python scripts feeding into a exabgp route injector(s).


The PCE / SDWAN style market is going to be interesting for sure. Its interesting how PCE remains like old school PfR i.e. modifying routing info/metrics, whereas SDWAN appears to have gone overlay everywhere like the DC VXLAN trend. Then there's the million dollar question, the controller that integrates all the other controllers/routing domains.
