Protip: cut them out and study in their place. It's the only way to get the damned certifications done.
Its amazing how much work you can get done if your l33t graphics card decides to fry itself on the month it goes out of warranty... I'll rejoin the PC master race when the time is right

Heh - trust me... I've had that conversation with myself many.. many times... but after a long day at work, then dealing with family life and two small kiddos, house chores, etc. I get about an hour or two to myself before I have to go to bed (Can't even stay up to 11pm anymore) and do it all over again.. can't seem to find the motivation to give up what lets my mind relax and zone out to pound in more of what I do at work all day.... ugh. It was so much easier without kids!

One thing I have learned with my CCIE studies is motivation is one of the first things to go. The shiny and cool wear off quick. To stay on track and work through these things you must have a solid game-plan/strategy and discipline. Now if I could just apply those same principals to losing weight and getting back into the gym...

CCIE gym equipment, now there is an idea.   miss a Q.  10 more reps...  too niche of a market though. no money to be made....

Yep... my issue is definitely discipline.... ;)  Always been a challenge for me.  That's why instead of doing remote courses in college when I had the chance, I purposely avoided it and opted for in-class work.  I knew that would take me away from any distractions and help me stay on track.

Try these things:

1. Wake up early.
2. Drink a big thing of water.
3. Do your exercises (30 min)
4. Shower, shave, all that kind of stuff (30 min)
5. Study (30 min-1 hour)
6. Eat breakfast and do the rest of your morning stuff
7. Head on in to work

Yes, you only study 30-60 minutes a day, but it will be the best studying you do. Your mind is ready to learn all kinds of stuff in the morning. Do your learning before you eat food and your blood will be in your brain, not busy digesting stuff. If you need black coffee or a diet cola to wake up, fine, have some. But nothing that requires digesting.
Take a baseball bat and trash all the routers, shout out "IT'S A NETWORK PROBLEM NOW, SUCKERS!" and then peel out of the parking lot in your Ferrari.

So much for my vacation. Got called Sunday. Customer network blew up, and they asked for me by name. Flew out Monday, and on site yesterday, and today. Out brief on the issue tomorrow, and fly home Friday. Vacation rescheduled for I don't know when. I am in use or lose and already have most of December off. Guess I will be out of the office starting on Thanksgiving, and come back after the new year.

Nice to have it all in a block like that.

Then get up at 5 AM. That extra hour is 100% YOURS. Play the "Theme From Rocky" for your wake-up music to get yourself going.
