For those that are not familiar with it SANS and Counterhack do a holiday hacking contest every year. You create an account on their site, and there is an entire story, and you need to use your skills in forensics, and penetration testing to finish the story. This year the first challenge is to find some data in a pcap. As you go along you answer questions, and at the end you can submit your answers for a chance to win some prizes.

The 8-bit Christmas music is kind of addicting. I will log into the game, and just let it play while I research the vulnerabilities.

8-bit music, you say? I'm intrigued...

There's a video on youtube which explains how they made the music in the old consoles like Commodore / Atari etc.

The keyboard he plays about halfway through the vid - I used to have that keyboard before my sister knocked our TV off the table onto the keyboard and crushed it :( I think he says it has the same chip inside to produce the music as the Atari. So I could have created game music on it if I knew how to play it properly.

:)

EDIT: I'm editing a house music track today. If I get it finished I'll send a link to my soundcloud. :)

Anyone working on this? The contest ends on the 4th, and while I am not going to get 100% I am hoping to get 3/5 of the systems.
