Ministry of Sound have been pretty consistent at "doin' it rite". I can also count on most Hed Kandi releases "from before the art changed."

I didn't really get into electronica until my second stint as a teacher, when a student recommended Tiësto, Paul Oakenfold, and George Acosta to me. After that, I wandered into Goa Trance on my own, by way of Natacha Atlas and this one Talvin Singh mix of her track "Duden."

Paul Oakenfold used to play in the local town hall (Wallington) before he was famous (apparently..). I know Carl Cox used to play locally before he was famous also. But I'm not old enough to have seen any of that unfortunately.

where's the bowdown emoji? :P

It is here:  :not_worthy:

Beatdown? I hope you don't think my story telling is in anyway trying to get one-up. It's unfortunately not me that played Ministry :( And I'm just as excited to know this stuff as you. :)
Here's the guy that opened Ministry: https://www.discogs.com/artist/19495-Jazzy-M

My mum lost her Ministry member card years ago, I remember her trying to find it at home. She said her member ship number was #36 or something like that haha

Not beatdown, silly. BOWdown. As in, "Great story, mate! Makes me wish I was able to experience it, as well." :)

Oh no man not at all lol sorry if I came across that way - I was seriously impressed/amazed.

What a bummer about the card!

Haha my fail sorry.

If any of you can locate this original vinyl I'm after a copy, but don't want to pay $600+ for it:

Actually, just had a look, there's one there for $165AUD now. This is tempting. I want to frame it and put it on the wall:

For this thread, I finally found the smiley again...

I want to buy a track but it's only on itunes and literally nowhere else. Literally nowhere else except in crap quality.

I don't want to install itunes. Is that the only way to buy things from itunes is installed their app?
Here's the track I'm after: https://soundcloud.com/curtisgabrielmusic/low-steppa-so-real-sam-divine-curtis-gabriel-remix-rinse-fm-preview

Haha nice dean!

Diesel - I think you have to use the iTunes app as an application in order to buy(They tie the purchase to your account which is handy if you need to re-download or download on another device) - not sure though.

Try Beatport maybe?

Done another mix at the weekend. Think there's a bit of everything in this mix.

Can anyone tell me why shortly after pressing "play" on the deck, that I get calls and/or messages on just about every application going. I cut the mix short, but there's always next weekend.

deanwebb

One way to cut down on calls and/or messages is to turn off one's phone and all other processes that involve messaging. Really does a good job at cutting down on interruptions, I've discovered.

I'm going to have to do that, seriously. I use my laptop to record and I have one of those smartwatches as well. It's like I can't escape! That's why I enjoy scuba diving. You're literally untouchable, except by sharks.

And, in Australia, the sharks are all venomous, can jump out of trees, and drive land trains. Be extra careful!

@AspiringNetworker - just bought myself some VMODA LP2 headphones. Tried my friends at the weekend and it feels easier to mix on compared to my HD25's. I wanted an over-ear headphone to help block out noise. The HD25s are hard to concentrate on sometimes.

deanwebb

Mixed feelings about the over-ears... sound quality is amazing, but then my ears get very sweaty, very quickly.
